Saturday 2nd March

Walk 1- The Mawddach Trail

Distance: 9.5 miles/15km
Difficulty - Moderate
Time - 5 Hours

Chris Price leads this lower level walk following the Dolgellau to Barmouth Trail as featured in Julia Bradbury’s Railway walks. The Mawddach Trail footpath walk winds 9.5 miles (15km) along the disused railway track on the southern edge of the spectacular Mawddach estuary. It is essentially flat, has a fairly even surface offering one of the most spectacular Railway walks that Britain has to offer. There are stunning views across to Diffwys and the Rhinogs, and up Y Garn and the Arans beyond Dolgellau. There are also two RSPB reserves (Taicynhaeaf and Arthog), and a whole host of historical sites to ponder over as you make your way through this beautiful landscape.

Walk 2 - Cadair Idris

Distance - 6 miles (9.5km)
Difficulty - Strenuous
Time - 5 1/2 hours

Emyr leads a walk to Cadair Idris. This is a very rewarding mountain and on a clear day it is considered as the 'Armchair of Wales' with views of Snowdonia and overlooking to Ceredigion. Its shapely profile dominates the southern region of the National Park. This route ascends and descends by the well-known Minffordd Path, which involves a lot of climbing but rewards walkers with spectacular views.

Saturday Evening - Live Folk Music from a Local Band in the Alpine Bar/Curry form Local Curry House Taj Mahal (Menu to be provided by Emyr on Friday Night and Orders on Saturday a.m).

Sunday 3rd March

Walk 1 - The Dysynni Valley and Castell y Bere

Distance - 6 miles (9.5km)
Difficulty - Moderate
Time - 4 hours

Chris Price leads a lower level walk around the Dysynni and Cadair valleys, surrounded by mountains and lying near the foot of Cadair Idris. It is a relaxing walk with only a few gentle climbs passing the ruins of Castell (Castle) y Bere and the remains of Mary Jones cottage.

Walk 2 - The Rhinogs

Distance - 8.5 miles (13.5km)
Difficulty - Strenuous

Emyr leads a walk in the Rhinogs described as 'Snowdonia’s best kept secret'. This walk provides some of the most spectacularly rugged terrain in Snowdonia and this walk covers the peak of Rhinog Fawr. Starting at Llyn Cwm Bychan following the old track road of Bwlch Tyddiad, ascending via the well-known Roman Steps and to bwlch Drws-Ardudwy between Rhinog Fawr and Rhinog Fach. In between we will pass through Coed y Brenin Forest.

If any individuals have any questions re: weekend/car share please contact Emyr on 07846879210.

Happy Walking!

Andy (B)/ Emyr
