Tawe Trekkers Newsletter 8th October 2011
Sunday 15th October - Craig Cerrig Gleisiad
Doug leads a shorter, but nonetheless scenic Brecon Beacons walk. This route circumnavigates the dramatic escarpment of Craig Cerrig Gleisiad. Note that this walk includes a steep descent. Call Doug on 07766652837 for details.
Distance: 4 miles
Difficulty: Moderate
Meeting point: County Hall at 9.30am or if you want to meet at the start of the walk please contact Doug on 07766652837.
Saturday 14th October - Ostreme Barn Dance
A few of us are attending a barn dance in the Ostreme Hall in the Mumbles this Saturday at 8pm. There is a live band "Whisky in a Jar" and should be fun. It is being hosted by the Ostreme Theatre Group and there are still tickets left for £8. If you want to come please contact Christian (07921840629). I won't be going as a pirate or a butler this time but may be supporting an obligatory check shirt!
Saturday 17th December - Tawe Trekkers Christmas meal
Our intrepid social secretary Martin has found a venue for our Christmas meal. This year it will be at Buzzie Lizzies (http://www.food-passion.co.uk/restaurants/bizzie-lizzies.html) which is on Walter Road in central Swansea. Further details will follow but if you would like to attend please express your interest to Martin (07743593068).
30th December - 1st January - Tawe Trekkers New Year Llyn Peninsula Beano
This year the Tawe Trekkers are joining forces with our fellow walkers from the midlands, the Black Country Group, and walking in the Llyn Peninsula area over the New Year period. We will be staying at Totters Hostel in Caernarfon (http://www.totters.co.uk/default.asp). This is a good quality hostel. Accommodation is £16 per night and is centrally located so entertainment will be readily available to see in the New Year. Three walks are being planned: a coastal walk to Aberdaron; a walk along the Anglesey coast path and a walk up on one of the smaller moutains in the Snowdonia range.
If you would like a come or more details please contact Emyr (o7846879210) by 16th October. All cheques made payable to the Tawe Trekkers will need to be received by the 23rd October.
That's it for this week folks.
Cheers.
Christian
