Dave's Eurotours walking extravaganza - 2012

Our man from Bridgend is planning another walking holiday in an as yet undisclosed location in Europe and would like expressions of interest. This will be quite challenging walking but will be rewarded by some stunning scenery. Dave would like to encourage female walkers following this year's all male group! Rhossili - Sunday 23rd Ocotber 2011
This weekend's walk offers great views overlooking Rhossili and Worms Head (weather permitting!!). From Rhossili we follow the coast past Mewslade and Falls bay. We then heaad inland and walk behind Rhossili Down to Hillend and finally return along Rhossili beach.
Distance: 8 miles approx
Difficulty: easy-moderate
Start: 0930 at County Hall car park or 1015 at the start point (Rhossili car park)

Only Men Aloud - Tuesday 29th November
The Welsh male voice choir who won the 2008 BBC series Last Choir Standing are gracing our very own Brangwyn Hall on the 29th November. The show will be a selection of festive Christmas repertoire, some new twists to familiar songs plus a mixture from both of their albums and a few firm favourites. Tickets are £25. Tawe Trekkers Newsletter 8th October 2011

Sunday 15th October - Craig Cerrig Gleisiad

Doug leads a shorter, but nonetheless scenic Brecon Beacons walk. This route circumnavigates the dramatic escarpment of Craig Cerrig Gleisiad. Note that this walk includes a steep descent. Call Doug on 07766652837 for details.

Saturday 14th October - Ostreme Barn Dance

A few of us are attending a barn dance in the Ostreme Hall in the Mumbles this Saturday at 8pm. There is a live band "Whisky in a Jar" and should be fun. It is being hosted by the Ostreme Theatre Group and there are still tickets left for £8. If you want to come please contact Christian (07921840629). I won't be going as a pirate or a butler this time but may be supporting an obligatory check shirt!

Saturday 17th December - Tawe Trekkers Christmas meal

Our intrepid social secretary Martin has found a venue for our Christmas meal. This year it will be at Buzzie Lizzies (http://www.food-passion.co.uk/restaurants/bizzie-lizzies.html) which is on Walter Road in central Swansea. Further details will follow but if you would like to attend please express your interest to Martin (07743593068).

30th December - 1st January - Tawe Trekkers New Year Llyn Peninsula Beano

This year the Tawe Trekkers are joining forces with our fellow walkers from the midlands, the Black Country Group, and walking in the Llyn Peninsula area over the New Year period. We will be staying at Totters Hostel in Caernarfon (http://www.totters.co.uk/default.asp). This is a good quality hostel. Accommodation is £16 per night and is centrally located so entertainment will be readily available to see in the New Year. Three walks are being planned: a coastal walk to Aberdaron; a walk along the Anglesey coast path and a walk up on one of the smaller moutains in the Snowdonia range.

St Brides to St Donats Linear Walk - Sun 9th October

On Sunday Andy M will be leading another linear walk in his native Vale of Glamorgan. He has a picturesque route lined up for us that will join these two lovely villages via some pub stops on the way. We will either shuttle in cars or get the bus back to the start point.

Difficulty: Easy - Moderate
Distance: 7.5 Miles
Meeting: Swansea County Hall at 0930, or the start point at St Brides at approx 1020 (call Andy for more details or directions).
