Waun Fach - Brecon Beacons - Sun 26th Oct

Mr. Jack's back with this classic walk in the wilderness of the BB's. It's sure to bring cheer to an Autumn day and it will be well worth travelling a bit further than we usually do for what's in store. After a steep climb to the remains of Castell Dinas, a magnificent viewpoint, we'll continue on a steady climb to the 810 metre summit of Waun Fach - the highest peak in the Black Mountains.
The latter part of the walk includes an exhilirating ramble along a switchback ridge.

Distance: 8.5 - 9 Miles

Difficulty:
Strenuous (due to the degree of ascent and steep climbs)

Start Points:

1. County Hall Carpark at 0930 (Note we will be leaving 0930 on the dot as we need to give ourselves ample time to travel up and do the walk), or...

2. Castell Dinas. Small parking area up unsigned lane 400m north of Castle Inn at Pengenffordd (see map) at about 1040.

Contact: Tom on 07980477164.

Programme Meeting - Thu 30th Oct - Viv's Pub in Sketty

All are welcome to our Autumn Programme meeting where we will be planning walks and events for the next three months or so. As always we'd like to encourage people to come forward to lead walks, organise social events, or just come up with ideas; without you the group would be nothing!

We'll be meeting at the Viv's at 8 pm on the Thursday. Bring maps, guides (books, not girls in uniform), diaries, beer tokens and a GSOH.

Call the venerable Programme Secretary, Trudi on 07807726441 for more details.

And on that note, I bid you a good week and hope to see you soon.

Cheers,

Doug

Alex and Rebecca's 'House Cooling' Party - Sat 11th Oct

Alex and Rebecca are trading the lovely ugly town for the dreaming spires of Oxford and will be moving in the next few days. Although this will be a great loss to Swansea, we'd like to wish them the very best for the future. Alex has been offered a lectureship at Oxford University and he just couldn't turn it down!

If you would like to bid Alex, Rebecca and Mark farewell, then they are having a 'house cooling' from 2pm at their soon to be vacated home in Brynmill on Sat 11th Oct (day before Christian's walk). Just drop in during the course of the afternoon.

I'm informed there'll be some nibbles and beverages.

For details and address give Rebecca a call on 07920030308.

That's it for another week. See you soon.
