Hello there!
Well after returning from the mystical East I'm ready for some more walking. Mount Fuji was great; the volcanic landscape a real change from the usual. However, couldn't see any views at the top due to severe weather. The real highlight for me was a small, northerly island called Rebun. Reminded me a bit of Gower but with different plants and geology. Fascinating stuff and I'll chat about it to anyone who's interested in due course.
Anyway, on matters closer to home; here's some details of the next walk near Neuadd Reservoir and also notice of the next Programme Meeting on Thursday the 18th October.

Neuadd Reservoir and Taf Fechan Forest - Sunday 14th Oct

This is a fairly flat and easy walk that goes through the forestry and hills at the foot of the Neuadd Reservoir. We should be treated to some great views of the Brecon Beacons in the background as we journey on our way.

Meeting points are at County Hall Car Park at 10am, or at the walk start point at 11am.

If you're meeting us at the start point then go up the A465 towards Merthyr, and just after you cross the intersection with the A470, follow signs to Cefyn Coed, then Pontsicill. Follow the road past the Pontsticill and Dol-y-Gaer Reservoirs to the forestry picnic area at Grid Ref. 048163. This is our start point but if you want more detailed directions or want to talk about any other aspect of the walk then give me, Doug, a ring on 07766652837.
Distance: 5 Miles

Difficulty: Easy

Programme Meeting - Thursday 18th Oct - 19:30@The Viv

Hot damn, it's that time again; I'm sure that the space-time continuum must be accelerating out of control or something!

Our next programme meeting will be on Thursday 18th at 7:30 at the Viv pub in Sketty. Please note that this will replace our usual fortnightly pub night in the Brunswick.
As always we are keen to have lots of people involved in leading walks, providing routes, and generally getting involved. If you would like to lead or propose a walk but aren't sure about any aspect then don't be shy, give us a call and we'll offer you all the assitance we can in order to bring your walk to life!
Likewise, we are planning to include some social events on this next programme. Since Lindsey left for a Land Down Under all that time ago, we have been slack and haven't followed her great tradition of lively social events. Therefore, if you have any ideas, or would like to lead/organise a social event then get in touch or bring it along with you to the Prog Meet.

Contact for all matters Programme related is Christian on 07791089942.

Walking Books
Finally, I have access to 20 copies of a Ramblers Association book on walk routes in the Swansea Valley. Going spare and surplus to requirements. It would appear that walking in the Swansea Valley wasn't quite as popular as the RA initially thought. Anyway, if you turn up to the walk or Programme Meeting and grovel then you might just get one! Now that's what I call a freebie!
See you on the far post,
Doug
