Tawe Trekkers news letter

Sut mae pawb,

Hope you all had a good Easter. Next weeks walk will be at Ynysmeudwdy in the upper Tawe valley,a rarely walked area,so a great opportunity to explore a somewhere new. The leader will be Graham. It has been scientifically proved that 8 miles in the upper Tawe is the equivalent to 1.5 Easter eggs,so even more reason to go.

We've been looking at the membership list, and though we've got 100 on our news letter list we only have 29 members registered with the Ramblers,I would put this mainly down to forgetfulness and people moving away or some people being registered with other branches,so the news letter will continue to go out as normal until the end of next month, but from then on it will only go to those on the list. We all get enjoyment out of the club so it's only fair that we all contribute to the running.

Hwyl fawr

        Tawe Trekkers Newsletter - 25 March 2013
Easter Eggstravaganza - Saturday 30th March - Monday 1st April 2013
We join the Rutland Ramblers who are staying on Gower. There are 3 separate day walks led by Emyr.
Saturday 30th March  - Linear Walk from Port Eynon to Rhossili
Start: Port Eynon YHA @ 10.30 a.m
Distance: 8 miles (12.9 km).
Approximate time: 4 hours.
Difficulty - Moderate
Parking: Some cars to be left at end point in Rhosili car park (Charge £3 per car).
Ordnance Survey maps Explorer 164 (Gower), Land ranger 159 (Swansea & Gower).
Gower boasts a splendid coastline, but the stretch between Port-Eynon Point and Rhossili is particularly outstanding.
Please note that this is a linear walk and car sharing will be required to enable fellow walkers to be transported from Rhossili to Port Eynon at the end of the walk.
In addition of arriving at Rhossili depending on the tide times there may be an opportunity for walkers to cross over to the actual worms head. If the tide times are not favourable an extra 3 miles can be added to the walk to take in Rhossili beach and climb up to Rhosili down.
Sunday 31st March 2013 - Circular Walk from Port Eynon taking in Oxwich, Three Cliffs Bay
Start: Port Eynon YHA @ 10.30 a.m
Distance: 10 miles .
Approximate time: 5 1/2 hours.
Difficulty -Moderate
Parking: Car free day!
Ordnance Survey maps Explorer 164 (Gower), Land ranger 159 (Swansea & Gower).
Gower is best known for its beaches and cliffs, but this walk reveals many other faces too. Beginning along the coast taking in Slade and Oxwich beach towards Three Cliffs Bay. The path passes dunes, cliffs and salt marsh before turning inland through wood and forest.
Monday 1st April 2013 - Llanmadoc Hill and a bit more!
Start Point - Cwm Ivy Car Park @ 10.30 a.m
Distance - Short route 5 miles/long route 12 miles
Difficulty - Moderate/
For his walk there are two options. The first option is the shorter route to accommodate our friends from Rutland Ramblers as some may want to head home early. For those who wish to carry on for the longer route option we shall be walking towards Blue pool bay  then dropping down over the dunes by Burry Holmes to walk the entire length of the beach then climbing to the highest peak of the Gower overlooking Rhossili Beach,  heading up Llanmdoc hill and dropping down for some well deserved refreshments in the local pub in Llanmadoc.
