Sweyne's Secrets - Sun 16th Sept *Note earlier start time of 0900h*

Join us for an archaelogical journey through the legendary landscape of Rhossili and Western Gower. The walk takes us through the rich archaeology and dramatic seascapes of Rhossili, the wild moorland that adjoins it, and the rugged beauty and mythology of the West Gower Coast.
This walk was originally billed as Lorraine's (and she will still provide the route and the archaeological input) but may end up being led by me (Doug) in her stead due to work commitments.

Distance - 10 Miles
Difficulty - Moderate/Strenuous
Meeting - 0900h at County Hall car park, or circa 0930 at the National Trust car park at Rhossili (you may be able to park at the nearby church for a small donation if there's room).
Contact - Doug on 07766652837.

Upcoming AGM - 11th October, Viv's in Sketty at 1930

This is to warm people up for the upcoming Annual General Meeting, where elections for the 2012/13 Committee will take place.

All positions are up for grabs. If there is more than one person standing for a position (and in all honesty this has rarely happened in the past!) then it will come down to a vote.

The Ramblers Association rules say that we must have a Chairperson, Treasurer, and Secretary as a minimum (the 'compulsory' roles) - so it follows that these are the posts that we will be prioritising.
That said we are very keen to fill all the other existing positions of Programme Secretary, Footpath Officer, Social Secretary, and Webmaster - and all these functions are a vital part of the running of the club.
If you have an idea for a new position then this can also be considered at the AGM and a new role can be created if appropriate.

All Committee Members must hold valid and current Ramblers Association membership. Beside any other principles, this is linked to reasons of public liability insurance.

Please have a think about standing for a post - as a Committee Member you can help to develop and steer the club, and ensure the valued survival of our Group which has become such an important part of many people's lives over the years.

Feel free to speak to any current member of the Committee if you are interested and want more information, or want to understand more about what being on the Committee involves. If you're not sure who we are... Emyr (Chairperson), Christian (Secretary), Bob (Treasurer), Doug (Programme Sec), Graham (Footpaths Officer), Martin (Social Sec), Trudi (Second Secretary), Rob L (Webmaster) - we'll be happy to hear from you.

The meeting will take place in the Meeting Room at the Viv's in Sketty on 11th Oct at 1930, followed by the Programme Meeting.

That's it for another week - hopefully see you out on the walk!

Cheers,

Doug

Distance: 9 miles

Difficulty: Moderate to strenuous

Thursday 6th September - Regular pub night

It's our regular fortnightly pub night in The Brunswick starting at 8pm so why not pop in for a drink or two.

Future social - Ostreme Theatre Players presents 'Allo 'Allo - Thursday 24th/ Friday 25th/ Saturday 26th October

I shall say this only once.....

I am currently working with the Ostreme Theatre Players on a classic stage version of 'Allo 'Allo with all the innuendos you could possibly wish for. This is your chance to see our very own Graham as Gruber, myself as a British Airman and Trudi will also be seen gracing the stage.

Tickets are £7.50 and the show will start at 7.30pm at the Ostreme Hall in the Mumbles . Please let me know if you want a ticket and what date (Christian 07921-840629). I will need paying in advance of the production or alternatively you could purchase a ticket on the night subject to availability.

Thanks.
Christian
