W&P Walk 1: Cardiff - Sunday 27th November

Martin leads us on the first walk of his series of Waterside & Parkland walks. These are intended to be walks based in and around urban areas where, apart from views over the town or city, the intention is to spend much of the walk in green spaces, or the more pleasant urban settings often found beside water. This walk starts in the centre of Penarth, near to the railway station.

This is a linear walk, returning back along the same route where we will be aiming to finish around 4:30pm. Walking at a reasonable, relaxed pace for about 2.5 hours in each direction, we could walk over 8 miles. But for those who aren't so keen on walking that far, there are cafes on the route where you can stop, rest and relax and wait for the rest of the group on their return.

Apart from one hill, the route is mostly flat and to avoid climbing over the hill twice, a shorter return route (if light permits) takes us back over some rocky ground.
Bring a torch, if you have one - so we have a few between the us, in case it's cloudy (and gets dark early) or our return is delayed as sunset will be at about 4.10pm.

These arrangements are flexible so will depend on the group's preferences and the weather on the day!

Start: 11.00am in Penarth.
Finish Time: 4.30pm (approx.)
Distance: 6 to 9+ miles.
Difficulty: Moderate.
Meeting point: 9.30 at County Hall or if you want to meet at the start point please contact Martin on 07743 593-068 for details.
Parking: Free.
