Hi all


Here's another instalment of the newsletter with a couple of socials this week and an update on the Snowdon weekend in May.


Saturday 2nd April - Aberdulais to Resolven


Paul takes us on a walk through the hidden gems of the Neath Valley, from Aberdulais to Resolven. Woodland, wilderness, and wivers await.

Distance: 9.5 miles.


Tuesday 29th March - Martin's movie night


Time: Meet at 7:40pm this week.

Location: No Sign Bar, Wine Street, Swansea.

Cost: £7.75 at the Odeon cinema (before discounts).

This week's film is: Submarine at 20:30 - Filmed in Swansea and quoted as "the best British comedy in years", ‘Submarine’ is a coming-of-age comedy starring Sally Hawkins and Paddy Considine. Fifteen-year-old Oliver Tate is on a mission – to lose his virginity before his next birthday. But first he must try to stop his mother from leaving his father and running off with a new age mystic.Join us for a quick drink at the No Sign Bar from 7:40pm, or arrange with Martin to meet at the Odeon Cinema.


Tuesday 29th March - Pub Quiz


Time: Meet 8:45pm for 9pm start.

Location: The Westbourne, Bryn-Y-Mor Road, Swansea.

Cost: 50p

Snowdon trip - 27th - 30th May 2011


Sarah needs to know if anyone else is interested in the snowdon weekend by 26th April, as she needs to confirm numbers with Vagabond Bunkhouse by 3oth April, otherwise we will have to pay for the places that are not filled. Anyone who expresses an interest after this period will have to arrange their own accommodation.


For those of you who have already booked Sarah would like to contact with you with further details of the trip. Please could e-mail Sarah at tommyset@hotmail.com so she can send you the details.

Garw and Ogmore Valleys Walk - Sun 27th March

This walk encompasses two splendid valleys; Ogmore and Garw. The area is also home to Dave's upbringing so the route is bound to be interspersed with one or two amusing anectodes.

Distance: 10 Miles

Difficulty: Moderate

Meeting: 9.30 at County Hall, or meet Dave in the Bridgend Sainsbury's carpark at 10.15 for driving on to the start point. If you want to meet at the start point, call Dave.

2. Tawe Trekkers' Film Night - Tuesday 29th March

Suggestions are welcome for the choice of film on the following week. The currently proposed film is to watch Submarine (which was filmed in Swansea) if it is still showing at the Odeon that week (if not, it is on at the Taliesin on Tuesday 17th May).

Also worth mentioning that it's our regular pub night at the Brunswick on Thursday - another busy social week!

Sunday 20th March - Gower Surprise! Walk
Martin leads us on a local walk on the Gower starting at Caswell Bay and taking in much of the variation in landscape of the surrounding area of south-east Gower. (The walk will be muddy in places, even after dry weather.)
Difficulty: Moderate (with some short steep climbs / descents)Distance: 7.75 miles

Blaencwm Walk - Sun 13th March

This Sunday Andrea will take us up to the cliffs above Blaencwm, climbing through forests to the head of a picturesque valley. We'll walk along lofty cliffs with striking views over the Rhondda Valley, passing a waterfall on the descent.

Distance: 6 Miles

Difficulty: Moderate

Meeting: County Hall at 0930, or the car park at Blaencwm at 1030.
