The walk then continues back to Craig-Y-Nos. There is also the option to walk behind the falls if you dare!

Hi all,

Our members have been all over the place lately! Last weekend some of us did Rob's rail ramble to Tenby (an excellent walk, thanks Rob), while others ventured up Snowdon to raise money for prostate cancer research. This weekend a few of us are going to France to see Lionel, and for those left behind in Blighty there's the chance to go on Laura and Keith's mystery walk.

Mystery Walk (Brecon Beacons) - Sunday 25th May

The only things we know about Laura and Keith's mystery walk are:

1) It will take place at an as yet undisclosed location in the Brecon Beacons.

2) It will be around 10 miles in length.

3) The meeting point in Swansea will be at the usual time and the usual place: 0930 at County Hall carpark.

4) It is of moderate difficulty.

5) If you want to try and find out more you can ring Laura on 07968109145.

That's it for this unusually brief newsletter, but you know what they say; 'more is less!' I and the others will return from France with photos and stories next week. Have a great mystery walk on Sunday!

Cheers,

Doug

Newsletter - Rail Ramble, Mark's safe delivery and a comedy night.

Hi there everyone,

Four items on the agenda this week, the rail ramble led by Marie and myself (Rob), the safe arrival of Rebecca and Alex's new son, Mark, and Graham's comedy night, plus a remider about the Pembroke weekend.
___________________________
Tickets Please: Rail Ramble from Manorbier to Tenby - Saturday May 17th
Next Saturday, Marie and I are leading a rail ramble from Manorbier to Tenby, walking the coast path along the cliffs and dunes between the start and destination. The walk is about 8 miles in length and offers some cracking views over Carmarthen Bay back towards Gower and the Lougher estuary. We also pass the imposing figure of Manorbier Castle and the old church en route.

We will be getting the 0950 train from Swansea for the leisurely trip down to Pembrokeshire and the suggest train back to Swansea is the 1947 train from Tenby, plenty of time to enjoy the walk and enjoy the delights of Tenby. For those who want to stay later in Tenby, there is also another train at 2145. Doug has also suggested a post walk meal either in Tenby (there is a decent curry house and Fish and Chip restaurant there) or when we return to Swansea.

Meet: 0930 on Swansea Station

Distance: 8 Miles

Difficulty: Moderate

More info, give me a call on 07990 807 510

Newsletter - Berkshire Group Visit - New Photo Gallery

Hi all,

Something a bit different this weekend; we're meeting up with the Berkshire Walking Group in Mumbles and Gower following their kind invitation to join them on their visit to the area. The option is there to walk with them on Saturday and/or Sunday. The Berkshire Group are eating at CJ's on Saturday evening, but that's full so we've booked space at Lal Quila (Indian) across the way. Please email back or call/text Doug on 07766652837 if you want to eat at Lal Quila on the Saturday so numbers can be confirmed.

It will be good to meet some like-minded ramblers from another part of the country, and we may be able to help them out with some local knowledge!

Here's the itinerary which has been adapted from the info that was sent to us by the Berkshire group...

Saturday 10th May: Mumbles, Langland and Caswell Bays, Clyne Common and Gardens

(10 miles, moderate, mostly flat with one short climb)

Meet on the seafront behind Boots the Chemist in Mumbles (SS616881) at 10:30am
We start this circular walk heading along the coast through Mumbles towards Mumbles’ Head and lighthouse. We follow the coastal path round through Bracelet Bay, Langland Bay and have lunch in Caswell Bay where there are facilities and refreshments. It’s then inland through woodlands and a nature reserve before crossing Clyne Common and Clyne Golf Course.
We then make a descent through the very beautiful Clyne Gardens to the sea front at Blackpill. It is expected that the Clyne in Bloom festival will be on at the time of our visit and there will be the opportunity to spend about an hour here to look at the wonderful flora (possibility) but for the less horticulturally inclined there is a chance for a pint at the Woodman Arms.
It’s then just a short walk back along the front to Mumbles.
There are opportunities to take buses back from Langland and Caswell Bays and Blackpill to Mumbles (subject to availability).

Sunday 11th May: Port Eynon, Worms Head and Rhossilli

(two easy walks of 6.5 miles each making a moderate to challenging walk)

Meet at the car park in Port Eynon (SS467851) at 10:15am for 10:30am start
We follow the coastal path in a westerly direction towards Worms Head and the beautiful sandy beach of Rhossilli which is about 6.5 miles walking. We will have lunch here and there is a chance to have a pint at the pub. For those that don’t want to do the full 13 miles there is a bus that runs to Port Eynon every 2 hours.

The afternoon walks takes us back to Port Eynon following inland footpaths across farm land.
Please e-mail ianmontague@hotmail.com for further details on the walks or call 07762 054207. (Or call Doug from TT.)

New Photo Gallery!

Lots of people have been asking about where they can see the latest photos - well ask no more because we now have a brand new link set up to a Tawe Trekkers 'Flickr' account (online photo sharing gallery). To view the new gallery simply click on 'gallery' on the TT webpage. You are able to download and share photos from this gallery, and if you want to upload your own photos please call me, Doug, and I'll tell you how!
If you have any concerns around privacy/not wanting to have your photo on the webpage, please call me and the necessary deletions can easily be made. As I'm sure you'll appreciate for reasons of practicality, this matter has to be dealt with on an opt-out basis.

That's it for now, remember to get your deposits in for the Pentre Ifan weekend, and look out for the imminent posting of new Programme on the website (a couple of changes have already been made from the one that was posted last week - always refer to the online version).

Cheers!
